Grading the cougars: B+

Quarterback: B+

Lobbestael’s efficient play is overshadowed by the loss of Lopina and Rogers.

Running backs: B+

Ivory is healthy and he’s running like it, Tardy is solid, and Staden had a highlight-reel run.

Receivers: B

The tight ends carried the load – and the PSU linebackers down- field.

Offensive line: B

Run blocking was an A, but too many times backside rush was hardly touched.

Defensive line: B

This was a night to get to the passer but only reserves had sacks.

Linebackers: A-

Higgins and Trent had interceptions and the group rarely missed a tackle.

Defensive backs: B+

Should have been an A, but four or five dropped interception tries take it down a notch.

Coaching: A-

The defensive scheme was near perfect while the loss of the top two quarterbacks was overcome.

Special teams: B+

Really not much to do but kickoff and Rooney put a couple into the end zone.
