Letters

Letter deserves more exposure

In last Saturday’s Valley Voice section (Aug. 30) Sally Jackson perfectly nailed our Spokane Valley government’s predicted failure. She knows these amateur politicians’ behavior and understands their motives better than any pedigreed political science expert.

She accurately forecasted that these clowns would need huge additional funds to provide much deteriorated services. The information that Sally Jackson presented in the holiday weekend paper deserves to be reproduced in the body of The Spokesman-Review during the week so it will be seen by a greater number of interested citizens and taxpayers. Maybe some reporter might get interested in digging into this.

The lack of democracy in the city of Spokane Valley, as she states, should offend every citizen in our Valley.

Spokane Valley

Smoke job by city proponents

The proponents of the city of Spokane Valley gave you a good smoke job, and the majority of you inhaled it. Now is the time to exhale, and get rid of this bunch of turkeys called the city council.

And the city of Spokane Valley is a stupid name to start with. It should have been called Opportunity, but there is no opportunity here now.

Change is good if it is in the right direction. This is the wrong direction. Lets turn it back to what the Valley was when I came here in 1953 after a couple of years in Korea. I started a business in 1964 on Stout Road, now Mullan. That changed, but it moves traffic faster north and Argonne moves it faster south. Good.

Appleway moves traffic east real well. Sprague Avenue moves traffic well to the west. Leave it alone, it’s working, don’t fix it.

Yes, I remember the story they told us, you will be annexed to the city of Spokane. Wow. Nobody wanted any part of that. Let’s make our own city in the Valley. We have checked this out and you will be better off with this new city.

Are you now better off than you were? No.
