In brief: ChalkArtWalk contest June 7

The Hillyard Festival Association and the Friends of the Historic Hillyard Community will present the annual ChalkArtWalk, a sidewalk chalk art contest June 7 at 10 a.m. in Downtown Hillyard on Market Street, north of Wellesley Avenue.

The theme this year is “Earth, Wind, Rain & Fire.”

Contestants can enter for free and will be given a square of sidewalk and a small selection of chalk to create their art. The contestants may also bring their own chalk.

There are different age groups in the competition, including 5 and younger, 6 to 10, 11 to 15, 16 to 20 and 21 and older. Children younger than 10 must be with an adult.

North Hill

Dinner to help fund transplant

The friends of Elizabeth Bradfish will hold a fundraising dinner for her Saturday at 5 p.m. at Northwest Christian School, 1412 W. Central Ave.

Bradfish will travel to Seattle for a bone marrow transplant June 10 for treatment of leukemia. She is expected to stay there for four to five months.

The spaghetti dinner will include a silent auction and raffle tickets for $1 each.

The cost to attend is $10. There is also a benevolent account set up at Washington Mutual under Bradfish’s name.
