D’Antoni leaves Suns for Knicks

Mike D’Antoni has agreed to coach the New York Knicks, bringing his entertaining offensive style from the Phoenix Suns to a team coming off one of the worst seasons in its history.

A person within the NBA told the Associated Press on Saturday that the Suns coach has accepted an offer from the Knicks. The offer is reportedly for $24 million over four years, making him one of the league’s highest-paid coaches. D’Antoni replaces Isiah Thomas, who was fired in April.

CCS has first perfect game

Heather Coulter pitched what coach Janet Skaife called the first perfect game in Community Colleges of Spokane history when she defeated Big Bend 3-0 in the first game of an NWAACC doubleheader at Spokane Falls CC.

Right fielder Nikiko Johnson preserved the perfect game with a running catch to open the seventh inning. Coulter (17-4) struck out 12 and coaxed six groundouts by the Vikings (3-33, 1-27).

The Sasquatch (30-14, 22-6) capped the sweep when Chantel Booker pitched a two-hitter and Heather Jackson doubled three times in an 8-0 win. CCS, the East Region’s No. 2 seed, opens the NWAACC tourney against Clackamas at Portland Friday.
