Makayla Carr had 12 strikeouts and league champion Colville (17-1, 14-0) swept a Great Northern League doubleheader, 3-2 and 23-3 at West Valley (11-8, 10-4). For West Valley, Stephanie Hjortedal went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs in a losing cause in the first game. Emilee Lepp went 3 for 5 and Jordan Emmil hit a triple, home run and drove in five runs in the second game for Colville. Shayd Urhausen and Moe Stuart each had two hits for the first-place Indians. Missy Carey went 2 for 3 for West Valley’s Eagles.

Elsewhere in the GNL, Bri Fischer had 11 strikeouts for Pullman (14-4, 11-3) in the first game of 7-0 and 10-1 wins over visiting Riverside (8-10, 5-9). Kirsi Boshell went 2 for 4 and hit a two-run home run in the opener for the Greyhounds. In the second game, Pullman’s Erika Hanson had three hits, including a triple, and 13 strikeouts. Amy Sterk also had a triple for Pullman. … Riley Swanson pitched two complete games for Clarkston (10-7, 9-5) in 13-3 and 7-1 wins over visiting Deer Park (1-15, 0-13). Swanson also had two hits, including a double in the first game. In the second game, Kayla Burke had two hits for the Bantams. For Deer Park, Melissa Brown and Kalie Carlson each had a double in the second game.

•Post Falls (16-8, 12-6) relied on clutch hitting for 2-1 and 5-2 wins over visiting Lewiston (11-11, 6-11) in the Inland Empire League. PF scored a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh for its first win. Lauran Nagrone had two doubles and Blake Meredith surrendered one run and one hit. In the second game, Post Falls scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for the win. Kadie Booth had three hits and Monze Kaufman hit a home run for the Trojans.

•Michaela Stewart had 13 strikeouts for Kellogg (12-4) in a 5-2 win over St. Maries in the 3A District I tournament at Spirit Lake. Cody James went 2 for 4 with a double and Bridgett Lund had a double and two RBIs for Kellogg. The Wildcats play Timberlake at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a state berth. At 3, St. Maries will meet Priest River in a loser-out game. … Afton Allred had a two-run double as part of a five-run sixth inning for Timberlake (15-6) in a 7-5 win over visiting Priest River (2-14). Timberlake loaded the bases in the sixth on a handful of hits and overcame a 5-2 deficit for the win. Jennifer Bitner singled in the final two runs of the inning. For Priest River, Chelsea Linton had two hits.

Baseball

Andy Vennum threw a complete game and struck out seven for West Valley (15-4, 12-2) in 12-0 and 10-0 wins over visiting Colville (9-8, 6-8) to wrap up the Great Northern League title. Tommy Peterson hit a two-run home run in the first game for WV and Bryan Peterson added three RBIs and a double. Drew Clausen went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in the second game. … Elsewhere, Cheney (13-6, 10-4) swept visiting Medical Lake (8-9, 6-8) 10-2 and 12-6. Rick Heuschkel threw a complete game and had six strikeouts in the first game for the Blackhawks. Drew Ableman went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. In the second game, Matt Walker hit two home runs and finished with four RBIs. Brenden Greene hit a home run in the second inning for the Cardinals. … Pullman’s efficient offense helped the Greyhounds (11-5, 9-5) take two from visiting Riverside (1-19, 0-14), 6-2 and 15-4. Alex Kirk and Alec Scourey hit solo home runs in a four-run fifth inning for Pullman in the first contest. Michael Scourey went 3 for 3 and added two RBIs. In the second game, Travis Cooper went 4 for 4 with a two-run home run and Christian Kure went 3 for 4 with an RBI. For Riverside, Connor Vanderholm hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. … Clarkston (14-6, 10-4) held visiting Deer Park to a combined two runs in 7-1 and 6-1 wins. In the first game, Cary Conklin handcuffed the Deer Park hitters and Jaron Jenkins had two hits, including a home run. Dale Entel added two hits and Doug Adelsbach had a double. For the Stags, Tanner Knutson had two hits, including a double. In the second game, Jenkins and Isaac Woodbury each had a double and Tyler Gillie had two hits for the Bantams. Deer Park fell to 5-12 overall and 3-11 in league play. … The pairings are set for the District 7 2A playoffs. On Tuesday, Colville is at Cheney and Medical Lake at Pullman. On Wednesday, Clarkston will host the Colville-Cheney winner and West Valley hosts the Medical Lake-Pullman winner. All games are at 4.
