Achievements: Area residents complete basic military training

Six area residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air National Guard Airman Ryan Dayton graduated from Lakeside High School in 2007 and is the son of Steven and Laura Dayton of Nine Mile Falls.

Air Force Airman Jeremi Hester graduated from Columbia Basin Secondary School in Moses Lake.

Air Force Airman Jordan Nestor is the son of Cathy Nestor of Spokane and is a 2006 graduate of Ferris High School.

Air Force Airman Michael Norton is the son of Jeannie Norton of Chewelah, Wash.

Air Force Airman Brandi Ward graduated from Mt. Spokane High School in 2003 and is the daughter of Donna Ward of Spokane.

Air Force Airman Courtney Coulson is the daughter of William and Claudia Coulson of Colville and graduated in 2005 from Colville High School.

“PFC Joshua Hansen of Spokane graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He is a 2004 graduate of Spokane Valley High School and the son of Darryl and Patty Hansen of Spokane.

“Pvt. First class Bryson Seubert graduated from the Marine Corps, recently. He is the son of Linda Seubert of Spokane Valley and graduated in 2007 from University High School.

“Two area residents graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Army Pvt. Ryan Hartinger is the son of James Hartinger and Lori Butterfield, both of Spokane, and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 2006.

Army Pvt. Saul Sadler graduated in 2003 from Christian Heritage Academy in Columbia, Tenn., and is the son of Phillip Sadler of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Joel Sadler of Spokane.

“Two area residents graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Army Pvt. Bradley Latimer is the grandson of George Latimer of Liberty Lake.

Army Pvt. Ryan Dunn is a 2007 graduate of South Albany High School in Albany, Ore., and is the son of Kevin Dunn of Spokane and Beth Macbeth of Albany, Ore.

“Army National Guard Pvt. Timothy Jones recently graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Rick Jones of Spokane.

“Eastern Washington University recently announced area recipients of the $2,000 Presidential Scholarship for the 2008-09 academic year.

Katie Early of Spokane is a student at Mead High School and the daughter of James and Karen Early.

Maxwell Tuttle of Newman Lake is the son of Andy and Angie Tuttle and is a student at East Valley High School.

Douglas Talkington of Spokane is a student at Lewis and Clark High School and is the son of Jeannie Talkington.

April Rice of Spokane is the daughter of Kandi Rice of Tacoma.

Stacy Carlson of Spokane is the daughter of James and Pamela Carlson and is a student at North Central High School.

Kathrin Meyer of Spokane is the daughter of Patrick and Brigitte Meyer.

Chrystal Bailey of Spokane is the daughter of Stephen and Maria Bailey.

Kyle Jordan of Spokane is a student at Mead High School and is the son of Doug and Judy Jordan.

Heather VanAgtmael of Spokane Valley is a student at University High School and is the daughter of Ted VanAgtmael of Otis Orchards and Patti VanAgtmael of Spokane Valley.

Stephen Trainor of Newman Lake is a student at East Valley High School and the son of Roger and Cheryl Trainor of Newman Lake.

Yuliya Shiva of Spokane is the daughter of Petr and Mariya Shiva of Spokane and is a student at Cheney High School.

Rachael Panther of Spokane Valley was awarded an Academic Honors Scholarship for $3,000 from EWU. She is the daughter of Susan and Leslie Panther Spokane Valley.

Ronna Walsh of Spokane received a $3,500 U.S. Bank Scholarship from EWU. She is the daughter of Shannon Hill.

Stacy Carlson of Spokane was awarded a $2,500 Scholastic Honors Scholarship from EWU. She is a student at North Central High School and the daughter of James and Pamela Carlson.

“The University of Montana announced the following area students who were named to the fall dean’s list.

Megan Babich, Jared Butterworth, Alyssa Demory, Melissa Farnsworth, Kara O’Connell, Mariah Ostheller, Jenna Sandvig and Samantha Werme.

Elizabeth Niggemyer of Spokane was recently named to the dean’s list during fall semester at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind.

“Westfield State College in Westfield, Mass., named Melissa Lamarche of Spokane to the fall semester dean’s list.

Fiona Gilleran of Spokane was named to the fall semester dean’s list in the University of Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters for outstanding letter scholarship.
