Name that Gecko at Mobius Kids

What do you call a cute, little lizard with webbed feet and Mohawk-like ruffle on its back?
That, kids, is for you to figure out.
Mobius Kids museum is now the proud keeper of just such a lizard, called a crested gecko. But you can’t go around saying “The Lizard” all the time.
So Mobius wants you kids to come up with a cool name.
Now, we’re not talking about a half-baked name scribbled on any old scrap of paper.
Oh, no. You can e-mail a name, decorate a piece of paper before you write the name on it, add drawings, paintings or even make a sculpture with the name on it.
Put your imagination to work.
The winning entry will be announced at the museum’s Gecko Festival, a two-hour kids party featuring “all things Gecko” from 1 to 3 p.m. June 21.
Gecko Fest kicks off the museum’s summer kids programs.
Kristi Luntzel, Mobius education coordinator, said “the festival will feature Gecko art projects, fun and intriguing Gecko facts and a chance to see the Mobius Kids Crested Gecko up close.”
Entries in the naming contest are due by noon June 13. E-mail entries go to Luntzel, at kluntzel@mobius spokane.org. Or drop entries off during museum hours. Mail entries to: Mobius, 808 W. Main Ave., Spokane, WA 99201.
“The winner of the naming contest for the Mobius Kids Crested Gecko will be named at precisely 1:59 p.m. at the Gecko Fest,” Luntzel said.
