Pedals2People to give bike tuneups

Pedals2People will offer free bike tuneups at the Shop, 924 S. Perry St., for residents of the South Perry area during the South Perry Street Fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kids’ bikes will be the priority, but volunteers will do their best to get to all the bikes.

The organization also will accept donations of repairable adult bikes for its summer programs such as the Village Bike Project, which will send more than 400 bikes to Ghana, Africa, in September; commuter bikes to be refurbished and sold at reduced rates to people who couldn’t ordinarily afford one. Some bikes are sold to benefit free programs in the community, such as the tuneups at the Street Fair.

The group is not looking for donations of children’ bikes at this time.

For more information, call Liza Mattana of Pedals2People at 456-4681.
