New Spicy Doritos live up to the name

When food panel tasters spotted familiar chips on their plate, a couple of them wondered aloud about whether the world needed yet another flavor of Doritos chips.

The answer? A hearty yes.

Tasters gave a solid four-star rating to the new Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos.

“Wow, I’m generally not a fan of Doritos, but these are great!” said Skip Hubbard. “Smoky and spicy goodness that stays with you the right amount of time.

Hubbard and Tina Johnson gave the chip the panel’s highest rating. “These are so spicy you can skip the salsa,” Johnson said.

Despite the spice, there were other flavors, tasters said.

“Very spicy, but at the same time a nice corn flavor comes through,” said Gabe Kohler.

Vicki Deschaine said, “Interesting combo of spicy and sweetness. Doritos, my favorite snack, I’ll take you home.”

There were a few tasters who said they wouldn’t be serving the chips at their Fourth of July barbecues.

“Spicy Dorito,” said Nancy Robinson, underlining spicy three times on her evaluation sheet. “Too spicy for me. They are crunchy with a slight taco or pizza flavor.”
