WSU Cougars

Saturday: Stanford, noon (FSN)

Outlook: Cal’s Bears have struggled in the Pac-10, but most of their losses have come late – including last week’s 82-77 loss to Stanford in which Cal led in the second half. They are the No. 2 scoring team in the Pac-10, averaging 79.3 points per game, and lead the conference in assists (17.1 per game). Stanford junior guard Anthony Goods has hurt the Cougars, hitting 16 of 32 shots and averaging 11.5 points in four games.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

Saturday: at Santa Clara, 4 p.m. (KHQ)

Monday: at Saint Mary’s, 8 p.m. (ESPN2)

Outlook: Santa Clara’s Broncos have rebounded from a 31-point loss to Saint Mary’s to win three of four conference games. Santa Clara leads the WCC in field-goal percentage (49.1) and is second in free-throw percentage (71.3). Junior center John Bryant is nearly averaging a double-double (17.5 points, 9.4 rebounds).

Idaho Vandals

Saturday: at Boise State, 6 p.m.

Outlook: The Broncos could be sizzling at Taco Bell Arena. BSU has scored 90 or more points in its last three games. The Broncos have scored 90 or more nine times. Idaho has lost 13 straight to BSU. Vandals coach George Pfeifer figures the Broncos scored at least 65 points in transition. Idaho has lost 22 straight conference road games dating back to 2004-05, the Vandals’ last season in the Big West.

EWU Eagles

Today: Montana State, 7:05 p.m.

Sunday: Montana, 1:05 p.m.

Outlook: Five days after blowing a 19-point second-half lead in a 74-69 loss at Montana State, Eastern gets a quick chance for revenge tonight. The Bobcats are the Big Sky’s highest-scoring team and boast the leading scorer in Carlos Taylor. Montana will try to offset EWU’s speed and perimeter game with a massive front line that was dominant in last Thursday’s 80-61 rout of the Eagles.
