Outlaw puts Blazers over Hawks in OT
Travis Outlaw sank a long jumper with one second left in overtime to lift the Portland Trail Blazers over the Atlanta Hawks 111-109 Monday in Atlanta.
Guarded by Josh Smith, Outlaw held the ball outside the 3-point line until under 5 seconds remained. Then Outlaw took a couple of dribbles inside the circle before pulling up and making the jumper.
Outlaw led Portland with 23 points.
Celtics 109, Knicks 93: At New York, Kevin Garnett had 20 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, and Boston routed the Knicks for the second time this season.
The Celtics shook off the loss of leading scorer Paul Pierce, ejected along with New York’s Quentin Richardson late in the third quarter after both picked up two technical fouls for jawing with each other.
Wizards 102, Mavericks 84: At Washington, Caron Butler had 25 points and nine rebounds and Antawn Jamison added 23 points and eight rebounds to give the Wizards a win over Dallas.
Josh Howard had 32 for the Mavericks.
Spurs 95, Bobcats 86: At Charlotte, N.C., Tim Duncan had 19 points and 10 rebounds and San Antonio earned a win over the Bobcats.
Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker added 16 points each and Michael Finley scored 13 for the Spurs, who shot 49 percent.
Jazz 109, Clippers 93: At Los Angeles, Deron Williams had 18 points and 13 assists, and six of his teammates also scored in double figures as Utah beat the Clippers.
Matt Harpring scored 17 points for the Jazz, shooting 7 for 10.
Hornets 106, Bucks 92: At New Orleans, Tyson Chandler had 20 points and 15 rebounds, and the Hornets topped Milwaukee.
Chris Paul finished with 16 points and 10 assists for New Orleans.
Pacers 110, 76ers 103: At Philadelphia, Kareem Rush scored a season-high 25 points and Mike Dunleavy added 24 to help Indiana beat the 76ers.
Troy Murphy, who left with a sore left knee, added 13 for the Pacers.
Timberwolves 109, Warriors 108: At Oakland, Calif., Ryan Gomes scored a career-high 35 points to go with 11 rebounds to help Minnesota snap a 16-game road losing streak.
The Timberwolves won just their second road game of the season.
Grizzlies 104, Bulls 90: At Memphis, Tenn., Mike Miller and Rudy Gay each had 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the Grizzlies beat Chicago.
Mike Conley had 10 points and a career-high 10 assists for Memphis.
Magic 102, Pistons 100: At Orlando, Fla., Rashard Lewis hit a 12-foot jumper as time expired to lift the Magic over Detroit.
Hedo Turkoglu had 26 points and eight assists for Orlando.
Cavaliers 97, Heat 90: At Miami, LeBron James scored 28 points and added five assists, lifting Cleveland past the Heat – his first win in nine career trips to Miami.
Dwyane Wade scored 42 points for the Heat.
Lakers 116, Nuggets 99: At Los Angeles, Derek Fisher scored a season-high 28 points, Jordan Farmar added 19, and the Lakers beat Denver for their 18th win in 22 games.
The Nuggets played the final 2 1/2 quarters without Carmelo Anthony, who sprained his left ankle midway through the second period. Team spokesman Eric Sebastian said X-rays of Anthony’s ankle were negative.

Etan Thomas, recovering from open-heart surgery, sat on Washington’s sideline, then stood on the periphery of the huddle during timeouts against Dallas. Thomas said he is looking forward to playing, perhaps sometime this season, but neither he nor coach Eddie Jordan would discuss a specific timetable for practicing or playing. … Los Angeles Lakers forward Trevor Ariza will be out about eight weeks because of a broken right foot. The Lakers signed free-agent center DJ Mbenga to a 10-day contract. … Defending champion Gerald Green, Toronto’s Jamario Moon, Orlando’s Dwight Howard, and Rudy Gay of Memphis will compete in this year’s dunk contest, which will be held Feb. 16 during All-Star Saturday night in New Orleans. … Boston coach Doc Rivers will coach the Eastern Conference at the All-Star game.
