Humphrey leads Highlanders to victory

Zach Humphrey hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to give the Shadle Park boys basketball team a 55-54 victory over University in a Greater Spokane League game Saturday at University.

Humphrey finished with a game-high 18 points and Robby Douglas added 12 to lead the Highlanders (11-1).

The Titans (5-7) were led by Mason Johnson, who scored 16 points and dished out five assists.

Ferris 44, Mt. Spokane 38: The Saxons survived a late rally by the Wildcats to remain undefeated.

Ferris held a 37-24 lead after the third quarter but Mt. Spokane closed the gap by outscoring the Saxons 14-7 in the fourth.

Jared Karstetter had 14 points and DeAngelo Casto added nine to lead Ferris (12-0).

Jordan Poynor connected on 5 of 11 3-pointers and finished with 15 points to guide the Wildcats (5-6).

Gonzaga Prep 63, Lewis and Clark 51: Ryan Nicholas led four players in double figures with 17 points and the Bullpups beat the visiting Tigers.

Sean Fischer had 15 points and David Stockton and Travis Long added 10 apiece for Gonzaga Prep (8-3), which outscored Lewis and Clark 24-12 in the fourth quarter.

Danny Peterson led the Tigers (2-7) with 13 points.

Central Valley 64, East Valley 47: The Bears used a strong second-half effort to beat the Knights at Central Valley.

William Davis scored 16 points and Sean Thompson added 14 to lead the Bears (8-5, 7-5), who outscored the Knights 36-20 in the second half.

J.C. Agen and Luke Clift each pulled down seven rebounds for Central Valley.

Danny Marshall had 12 points and Trevor Slocum added 11 to lead East Valley (0-12).

Mead 46, North Central 41: The Panthers used a strong second-half effort to beat the visiting Indians.

Brendan Ingebritsen scored 11 points to lead Mead (6-6), which outscored North Central 26-14 in the second half.

Nick Rijon led the Indians (4-8) with a game-high 19 points.

Girls

Shadle Park 44, University 41: Lindsay Niemeier and Lexie Pettersen scored 12 points apiece and the Highlanders used a big fourth-quarter run to beat the host Titans.

Shadle Park outscored University 14-0 in the fourth quarter to erase an 11-point third-quarter deficit.

Riki Schiermeister scored 14 points to guide the Titans.

The Highlanders improved to 10-2 and remain tied with Mead for second place. University fell to 8-4.

Lewis and Clark 81, Gonzaga Prep 61: Sarah Kliewer scored 19 points and Jeneva Anderson added 14 as the Tigers remained undefeated with a victory over the host Bullpups.

Ashley Woodruff added 11 points for Lewis and Clark (11-0), which outscored Gonzaga Prep 20-12 in the first quarter and led 40-28 at the half.

Jensen Sayman led the Bullpups (5-7) with 21 points.

East Valley 60, Central Valley 58: Kathy Tate’s lay-in late in the fourth quarter gave the Knights a win over the host Bears.

Morgan Manchester scored 17 points and Brooke Myre added 13 to lead East Valley (2-10).

Central Valley (7-5) was led by Brittany Catron, who had 12 points.

Mead 61, North Central 43: Jazmine Redmon scored 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Panthers past the visiting Indians.

Mead (10-2) put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring North Central 18-6.

Nicole Graybeal and Andrea Depaolo had 11 points apiece for the Indians (3-9).

Ferris 43, Mt. Spokane 36: Amber Quann scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Saxons past the host Wildcats.

Ferris (5-7) outscored Mt. Spokane 16-10 in the first quarter and led by four at the half.

Katie Karisch had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the Wildcats (4-8).
