Register for wrestling Jan. 22

Registration for Spokane Junior Wrestling, a developmental program for kindergarten through sixth grade, is scheduled Jan. 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. at area high schools.

Participants should register at the high school in their district: Central Valley, East Valley, Ferris, Gonzaga Prep, Lewis and Clark, Mead, Mt. Spokane, North Central, Rogers, Shadle Park, University and West Valley.

Cost is $50, which includes tournament fees, club T-shirt, officials, awards and insurance. In addition, SJW singlets are required for tournaments. Cost is $20 used or $30 new.

DEER PARK

Quilt show next weekend

The Winter Delight Quilt Show is next Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Jan 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Deer Park School District administration building, 428 N. Main St.

The quilt show is happening at the same time as Deer Park Winter Fest which concludes with fireworks at 6 p.m. next Saturday.

The guild presents this show to help raise funds for the “Dollars for Scholars” scholarship program benefiting students in the area. The guild solicits entries from many quilt groups and will be showing more than 100 quilts.

Learn new techniques with a demonstration “Turning Twenty” pattern at 11 a.m. next Saturday with Ina Hellie and Sandi Stillman.
