West Valley earns victory

Jordan Lupfer-Graham poured in 31 points to lead West Valley to a 64-61 victory over Deer Park in the opening round of the District 7 2A boys basketball playoffs at West Valley Saturday night.

Parker Flynn added 13 assists for West Valley, which plays at Pullman on Wednesday. Cheney is at Clarkston in the other game.

•The West Valley of Yakima boys captured the 3A Regionals top seed from the Columbia Basin League with a 61-46 victory over Eastmont on Saturday.

Kennewick defeated Kamiakin 62-50 on Saturday to capture the No. 3 seed from the CBL.

Regional play opens on Tuesday with GSL No. 2 North Central playing at Kennewick and Kamiakin playing at Eastmont.

West Valley (Yakima) and Mt. Spokane have first-round byes.

In girls play Saturday, Kamiakin earned the CBL top seed with a 55-51 overtime win over West Valley (Yakima). Hanford is No. 3 after a 61-47 win over Kennewick.

Regional matchups on Tuesday are: GSL No. 2 Mt. Spokane at Hanford and Kennewick at West Valley (Yakima).

Kamiakin and East Valley (Spokane) have byes.
