Roof collapse damages boats at Lake CdA marina

Several boats at a marina on Lake Coeur d’Alene were damaged over the weekend when heavy snowfall caused a roof sheltering them to collapse, boat owners said today. The collapse occurred in a section of Conkling Park Marina that is privately owned by a condominium association, said Pat Dean, who has stored his boat in the public area of the marina for many years. Mike Gilbert, who also has stored his boat at the marina for years, said some boats were pushed completely under water and only the bows of others were visible. He said the boats are covered in the debris from the metal-roofed wooden structure that collapsed. Gilbert said he believed the collapse occurred late Saturday night. “It’s too dangerous to try to enter,” he said. “Given the weather conditions, no one knows when they’ll be able to get that debris off the boats. Luckily, no one was hurt.”
