Spokane Valley declares state of emergency
Spokane Valley Mayor Richard Munson declared a state of emergency today in an effort to tap state and federal funding to help efforts to plow his city.
“The county-contracted and privately contracted snow removal crews have done a marvelous job in trying to keep up with the record snowfall we are experiencing,” Munson said in a news release. “But we feel they need help. We hope this declaration will provide some assistance.”
The declaration is the first step toward requesting that Gov. Christine Gregoire issue a “Proclamation of Emergency,” which would allow the city to access state and federal funds to assist in the plowing effort.
