Whits handed first defeat
Fifteen-ranked Whitworth suffered its first loss Friday night, falling 73-68 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the 61st annual Lee Fulmer Memorial tournament in Redlands, Calif.
Whitworth (5-1) fell behind by 11 points, but the Pirates rallied to tie the game with 4 minutes, 48 seconds remaining.
David Riley led the Pirates with 22 points and four rebounds and teammates Bo Gregg and Ross Nakamura had 14 and 12 points, respectively.
CMS was paced by four players in double-figure scoring.
Whitworth will play for third place tonight.
North Idaho 77, Highline 56: University of Idaho-bound Shawn Henderson scored a game-high 21 points to lead the visiting Cardinals, who opened a 36-18 lead in the first half and coasted thereafter.
Henderson added six rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Renaldo Parker and Melvin Jones had 17 and 13 points, respectively, to assist Henderson.
Clackamas 100, CC Spokane 98: The Cougars led by 16 points before holding off a late charge by the visiting Sasquatch.
Zach Humphrey led CCS with 24 points and Brendan Ingebritsen added 20.
Derek Gianukakis led CCS with 13 rebounds.
J.C. Cook led Clackamas with 35 points.
