She’s truly a stand-up woman

Christina Applegate is taking the long view of her battle with breast cancer.

Applegate revealed Tuesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she had a double mastectomy three weeks ago.

She’ll undergo reconstructive surgery over the next eight months.

“I’m going to have cute boobs ’til I’m 90, so there’s that,” joked Applegate. “I’ll have the best boobs in the nursing home.”

Based on genetic testing, the 36-year-old actress elected to remove both breasts even though the disease was contained in one breast.

“I just wanted to kind of be rid of it,” she said. “So this was the choice I made and it was a tough one.”

The Emmy-nominated “Samantha Who?” star has kept her sense of humor intact.

“Yeah, I’ll face challenges, but you can’t get any darker than where I’ve been,” she said.

“So knowing that in my soul gave me the strength to just say, ‘I have to get out there and make this a positive.’ ”

Applegate is scheduled to appear on a multi-network fundraiser, “Stand Up to Cancer,” airing Sept. 5.

And she’s not alone

As part of “Stand Up to Cancer,” 15 female singers have joined forces to record a song, “Just Stand Up,” that will be released Sept. 2.

Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood will perform the song live during the telethon.

All sales of the single, produced by Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, will benefit cancer research.

Guess it got old

Donnie Wahlberg and his wife are calling it quits after nearly nine years of marriage.

He and Kim Fey Wahlberg each filed for divorce last week in separate Los Angeles-area counties. They have two sons, ages 15 nd 7.

The move comes as Wahlberg, 39, prepares to tour with a reunited New Kids on the Block.

Britney Spears’ recently resolved custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline wasn’t just messy, it was expensive.

Court documents show legal bills submitted on behalf of two law firms who represented Spears total more than $466,000. That’s on top of the $250,000 the 26-year-old pop singer has agreed to pay Federline’s attorneys.

Federline retains full custody of their two sons, but Spears has some overnight visits.
