Vino lends Ella’s and CenterStage a pouring hand

Despite the dire news of CenterStage’s imminent demise, John Allen and his crew at Vino! A Wine Shop will go ahead with the scheduled wine dinner and auction to raise funds in an effort to save CenterStage, 1017 W. First Ave., and its restaurant and live jazz venue, Ella’s Supper Club.

As is the case for current operations at CenterStage, Ella’s will reopen in a special capacity strictly for the event.

The five-course menu will feature Steelhead Pâté, Filet Mignon Carpaccio, Washington Apple Gazpacho, Bone-in Stuffed Chicken Breast with Wild Rice and Barley and, for dessert, Tartelette d’Abricot on Crème Anglaise with Caramel Cinnamon Sauce.

Each course will be paired with wines chosen by the Vino crew.

Silent auction items run the gamut from the inexpensive, such as a $25 “Staff of Life Bread Box” to be filled at Great Harvest Bakery, to the more extravagant, such as a Yakima Valley wine tour with lodging, gas, wine and a six-hour limo ride included.

Tickets are $85 per person, with tip and tax included.

Call (509) 838-1229.
