Piano peeps

If you’re a fan of eerily delightful piano-based music, then you probably know better than to pass on a visit from Invisible City chanteuse Johanna Kunin.

Not to cry wolf, but this coming Thursday is most assuredly not to be missed.

Kunin, the latest addition to the Velella Velella family, headlines a show on Thursday at Caterina Winery, 905 N. Washington St., with support from Cabinet of Natural Curiosities, a Missoula-based female-fronted duo on piano and upright bass,

Where Kunin is warm and inviting, CoC is spooky and stark. Cover is $5. Music starts at 8 p.m.

Warped motion

Motion City Soundtrack recently rocked the Knitting Factory and its one of the highlights of the sprawling roster of corporate punk bands at Vans Warped Tour, which takes place Saturday at The Gorge.

Tickets are $29.50, through Ticketmaster.

Watch video of the Knitting Factory show, plus an exclusive interview and live concert stream with Motion City Soundtrack at spokane7.com/blogs/ soundwave.

What else happens after 777?

The Dearly Departed is making a bumrush for August after a months long hiatus.

The local goth-blues legend appears tonight at 9 p.m. at Mootsy’s, 406 W. Sprague Ave., with Slow Poisoner. Consider this the afterparty for the Jacob Butcher show tonight at Caterina (see Spin Cycle on page 18 for details). Cover is $5.

You can also catch DD Aug. 16 at Benniditos Pizza, 1426 S, Lincoln St., and Aug. 30 at The Swamp Tavern, 1904 W. 5th Ave.
