Make mine a double-down

Responsible, clear-headed judgment can be such a pain when you’re trying to have a good time at the card table.

So it’s safe to say that Northern Quest Casino, 100 N. Hayford Road, seriously upped the fun quotient on Monday when it started allowing gamblers to drink booze on the gaming floor.

“As Northern Quest Casino expands its property and achieves a higher profile as a regional gaming and entertainment destination, we feel it’s important that our policies be more in line with those nationally,” assistant general manager Phil Haugen said in a press release.

Cougs get Cooky’s

Cooky’s European Deli, a new indoor-outdoor eatery, held its grand opening at 215 E. Main in Pullman on Thursday.

The downtown hangout offers “European hardy dishes” such as cabbage rolls, pirogues, pork chops and more.

Hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What a lunchbox

A new Vietnamese- Thai-American restaurant opened under the radar earlier this year on Spokane’s North Side.

The Lunch Box Noodle & Grill, at 1006 E. Francis Ave., serves a handful of Thai and Vietnamese dishes – such as Mussamun Curry ($6), Pad Thai ($5) and Vietnamese-style sandwiches ($4) – alongside American-style lunches.
