Warriors survive OT thriller against Bulldogs

Colt Brennan passed for 548 yards and four touchdowns and No. 20 Hawaii stopped a two-point conversion on the final play of the game to beat Louisiana Tech 45-44 on overtime on Saturday night in Ruston, La.
Brennan hooked up with Jason Rivers for a 6-yard touchdown to put the Warriors (2-0, 1-0, Western Athletic Conference) up 45-38, but Zac Champion answered for the Bulldogs with a 2-yard TD pass to Dustin Mitchell.
Louisiana Tech went for two and the win instead of the tying extra point kick and Champion’s final pass to Brian Jackson was batted down.
Brennan finished 43 for 61 with an interception.
Champion finished 23 for 36 for 188 yards and Patrick Jackson ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns for Louisiana Tech.
Northwestern 36, Nevada 31: At Evanston, Ill., C.J. Bacher threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to a diving Ross Lane with 21 seconds left to cap a frenzied six-play, 80-yard drive as the Wildcats (2-0) rallied for a victory over the Wolf Pack (0-2).
Bacher set up the game-winning score with runs of 20 and 15 yards to the Nevada 13. He threw incomplete before firing the ball to Lane who went down for a scooping catch with Nevada’s Devon Walker on top of him.
Northwestern then tacked on two points on the final play when Kevin Mims sacked Nevada quarterback Nick Graziano in the end zone.
Wyoming 32, Utah State 18: At Laramie, Wyo., Wynel Seldon rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, and Wyoming’s defense held Utah State to 0 for 13 on third downs as the Cowboys (2-0) beat the Aggies (0-2).
The win marks the best start for Wyoming under fifth-year coach Joe Glenn. Utah State lost its eighth straight road game.
Seldon and Devin Moore both finished with 85 yards rushing for the Cowboys.
Wisconsin quarterback Karsten Sween completed 19 of 32 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown.
New Mexico 44, New Mexico State 34: At Albuquerque, N.M., Rodney Ferguson had 118 yards rushing and two touchdowns and Donovan Porterie threw for two more scores, lifting the Lobos (1-1) over the Aggies (1-1).
Porterie completed 18 of 25 attempts – including 14 of his last 15 – for 342 yards and John Sullivan kicked three field goals as the Lobos beat their instate rival for the fifth straight year.
Chase Holbrook was 47 of 63 for 473 yards passing and four TDs for New Mexico State. He threw two fourth-quarter interceptions.
