Cleanup days planned Sept. 8-9

The Spokesman-Review

Edgecliff residents can dispose of garbage and yard waste free of charge Sept. 8-9 as part of Edgecliff Neighborhood Cleanup Days.

Waste Management employees will place two large-capacity Dumpsters at the old Pratt Elementary School, where residents can dump mixed construction waste, as well as yard waste and general residential trash.

Not accepted are electronic items, propane tanks, hazardous chemicals and petroleum products, paint, tires, asbestos, refrigerated appliances or mattresses and box springs.

Edgecliff residents who need assistance getting their waste to the Dumpsters can call 477-6345. Boy Scout Christopher Davisson is earning his Eagle rank and completed much of the planning for this year’s cleanup event. Troop 400 Boy Scouts will be assisting in the effort both days.

The Pratt Elementary Dumpster site is at Fourth and Coleman and hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Edgecliff Neighborhood Cleanup Days is a program associated with the Edgecliff Weed and Seed grant, a project intended to enhance community safety by reducing crime and targeting other quality of life issues that contribute to neighborhood decline.

Persons interested in learning more about SCOPE, the Sheriff’s Community-Oriented Policing Effort, can contact the Edgecliff SCOPE Station at 522 S. Thierman Road in Spokane Valley or by calling SCOPE Director Rick Scott at 477-3376.
