Few runs solid program

The Spokesman-Review

Edward Hawthorne casts some mighty large stones with his letter of condemnation toward the entire Zags basketball program (Nov. 18, “Zags set bad example”).

As a retired basketball official (20 years), I can rank Coach (Mark) Few as an example of a coach/administrator second to none. Either Hawthorne has some divine perception of integrity or he perceives himself as the last word on moral and ethical evaluation.

Any young student, basketball player or not, is fortunate to be exposed to coach Few’s leadership and moral lifestyle examples, both on and off the court. An apology is due Coach Few, the administrators and the young men in the Zags basketball program.

I would agree with Hawthorne in that he should watch the NBA. I am perplexed as to how he will find the integrity and leadership factors he evidently demands for himself in that format.
