What: Fifth Annual Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest, “Celebrate Birdsong and Explore the Natural World.”

When: May 18-20, 2007

Where: Throughout the Wenatchee River Watershed in Leavenworth, Wash.

Details: Many of the trips have size limits, so it’s a good idea to register in advance. You can register online or by phone.

A map of the Cascade Loop of the Great Washington Birding Trail is available for $4.95 through the Washington State Audubon Society at waaudubon.org or by calling (866) 922-4737.

Bird Fest Central Registration: Located next to the Gazebo in downtown Leavenworth, and plenty of bird fest greeters are available to answer your questions.

Hours: During the festival on Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Trip registration: Available the day of the event on a first come, first served basis.

While there, pick up a checklist of birds in the area, a Bird Bulletin for Kids, information on self-guided tours, and a festival hat.
