Boys soccer

Adam Zakrezeski scored two goals and Mitch Weller added a goal and two assists as Cheney routed Deer Park 8-1 in a Great Northern League crossover tournament game Saturday at Central Valley High School.

The Blackhawks dominated the action, outshooting the Stags 16-3.

Also at CV, Evan McCain scored a goal in the 55th minute and Pullman blanked Riverside 3-0. TK Hemmi scored the first goal of the game for the Greyhounds, who outshot the Rams 11-7. … Mike Brownell and Derek Hess scored two goals apiece as Medical Lake topped visiting Colville 7-0. Ben Groce added a goal and an assist for the Cardinals. The Indians (2-13) have been eliminated from postseason competition. … Bryer Reynolds scored off an assist from Joe Buchanan in the 47th minute, giving West Valley a 1-0 win over visiting Clarkston. Kyle Furbee made six saves for the Bantams (2-13), who are finished for the season. … Pairings are set for the District 7 2A tournament. On Tuesday, third-seeded Pullman (12-3) will host sixth-seeded WV (6-11) while fourth-seeded Riverside (8-7) will host fifth-seeded Medical Lake (9-8) in loser-out games. Both games are scheduled for 4 p.m. On Thursday, top-seeded Cheney (17-0) will host the winner between Riverside and Medical Lake while second-seeded Deer Park (8-8) will host the winner between Pullman and WV. Both games are at 4 p.m.

Eric Alexander had a hat trick as Lakeside (13-3) blanked visiting Bridgeport 5-0 in a District 6-7 1A regional playoff game at Nine Mile Falls. Drew Brittain added a goal and an assist for the Eagles, who will advance to play either Brewster or Entiat on Tuesday.

Baseball

Colfax built an 8-0 lead after two innings and held on to beat Cashmere 11-8 in a 1A District 6-7 play-in game in Moses Lake. Cashmere scored six runs in the third to cut the deficit to 8-6, but that was as close as the Bulldogs could get. Colfax (10-11) will advance to the District 6/7 1A tournament and will play the Caribou Trail League’s top seed at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eastmont High School.
