Saneholtz will retire after 28 years at WSU
Marcia Saneholtz will retire this summer as Washington State’s senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator after 28 years at the university.
Among her many career milestones, Saneholtz headed up WSU’s successful bids to host NCAA volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in Spokane.
“It’s been a terrific adventure and experience over 28 years,” Saneholtz said in a school press release. “I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with incredible people and many rewarding opportunities. It’s now time to experience other ‘worlds’ while I’m healthy and have lots of energy.
“Once a Coug, always a Coug.”
WSU athletic director Jim Sterk said Saneholtz had her “stamp” on many of the university’s programs, systems and facilities.
“Out student-athletes, staff and fans are enjoying the fruits of her work while at WSU,” said Sterk.
The university noted that Saneholtz is considered an expert nationally in the “merging of men’s and women’s programs and the development of women’s athletic programs under the guidelines of state and federal (Title IX) regulations.”
