In brief: Couple arrested, may be linked to disappearance

The Spokesman-Review

An Idaho couple wanted for questioning in the disappearance of a Priest Lake area man was arrested Tuesday in Florida.

The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t comment on whether the arrests are linked to Monday’s discovery of a body found in a forested area near Coolin, Idaho.

Lt. Gary Johnston said the Sheriff’s Office is aware of the Florida arrests and that extradition to Idaho is pending.

The Lee County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office assisted the FBI in arresting Keith Allan Brown and Tyrah Brea Brown in Ft. Myers, according to a news release on the Sheriff Office’s Web site.

The Hope, Idaho, couple are associates of Leslie Carlton Breaw, 48, of Coolin, who went missing in February. His truck was found in the Coolin area.

Since then, the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office has been looking for the Browns, who are listed as “persons of interest” in Breaw’s disappearance.

Collision delays traffic on U.S. Highway 195

Traffic was delayed for several hours Tuesday afternoon after a semi-truck and pickup collided north of Colfax.

About 12:40 p.m. Samuel M. Kammerzell, 17, lost control in slush and crossed his 1991 Dodge Dakota pickup into oncoming traffic, hitting a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 195, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Kammerzell was taken to Deaconess Medical Center.

The truck driver also had injuries and was treated at the scene. Neither person’s injuries were described as life threatening, troopers said.

The collision caused traffic to be detoured 25 miles around the wreck.

The detour was removed about 5 p.m.

Level III sex offender moves into area

A level III sex offender has moved into the 31000 block of North Austin Road in Deer Park, according to Spokane County sheriff’s officials.

James R. Daniels, 47, was released from prison six years ago after serving a 10-year sentence for first-degree child rape, said Sgt. Dave Reagan. Daniels’ victim was a 5-year-old girl who lived near him.

Daniels also pleaded guilty to another sex crime, indecent liberties, involving an 8-year-old girl in Asotin County during the late 1980s, Reagan said.

Daniels is white, 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He has a 1-inch scar on his right forearm and a broken heart tattoo on the inside of his left arm, Reagan said. Level III offenders are considered most likely to commit new crimes.
