Plan commission gets new member

Spokane County commissioners on Tuesday appointed an active community volunteer and former candidate for Spokane City Council to its Planning Commission.

C. Joyce McNamee, 65, will fill a seat that’s been vacant since October when Commissioner Patrick Kennedy resigned.

McNamee is a retired manager of a dental office and former real estate agent who holds several volunteer positions.

She ran for Spokane City Council in 2005, but lost the race in the primary.

McNamee will fill a seat that represents Commissioner Todd Mielke’s district in northern Spokane County. In 2004, she and her husband gave $550 to his campaign, according to the Public Disclosure Commission.
