If newspapers eventually abandon their print editions, what will replace the practice of saving clippings focusing on family members?

No doubt, there will be countless digital storage techniques. It’s no huge crisis.

But for those accustomed to thinking of aging newsprint as part of the family archive, the idea of no longer being able to clip out articles and photos can seem sad.

If you have ever savored yellowed stories about high school sports that lionized your brother or held an ancient announcement of your sister’s wedding, perhaps you understand. This stuff isn’t just clutter.

Those moments in the spotlight were a big deal, back in the day.

Families will find new ways to save these memories. But you probably won’t be able to pick one up, pass it across a table and say, “Hey, remember this?”
