Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday that President Bush has made a mess of Iraq and it is his responsibility to “extricate” the United States from the situation before he leaves office.

It would be “the height of irresponsibility” to pass the war along to the next commander in chief, she said.

“We expect him to extricate our country from this before he leaves office” in January 2009, the Democratic senator from New York said her in initial presidential campaign swing through Iowa.

The White House condemned Clinton’s comments as a partisan attack that undermines U.S. soldiers.

5 deaths thought murder-suicide

Omaha police believed a 62-year-old man fatally shot his daughter, her husband and her two young sons before turning the gun on himself early Sunday.

Police responded just before 1 a.m. and found five people shot inside a west Omaha home. All were dead except Jamie Lee, 26, who died later at a hospital.

Investigators believe Lee’s father, Richard Wilkinson, shot her and her family before committing suicide, police Sgt. Teresa Negron said.

Also killed were Lee’s husband, Darrell Lee, 35, and her sons Michael Wilkinson, 6, and Jacob Shinabarger, 3. All five people lived in the home, authorities said.

Body found in plane wheel well

A man was found dead in the wheel well of a British Airways airplane at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday, airport officials said.

A British Airways pilot found the body during a pre-flight check and notified airport officials about 4:30 p.m. The 747-400 had arrived in Los Angeles from London Heathrow airport at 3:15 p.m. and was to depart again for London at 5:20 p.m.

Authorities had not identified the man late Friday but said he was a “young black male.” Law enforcement and aviation officials at the scene had not determined whether he got into the aircraft in London or a previous departure point.

Charles, Camilla pay visit to school

Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, visited Harlem on Sunday during their whirlwind American weekend, making a stop at a charter school where they answered children’s questions and the prince took some time to shoot hoops with a basketball team.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the Harlem Children’s Zone’s Promise Academy. The royal couple are on a weekend visit to the United States that focuses on youth development, urban renewal and environmental stewardship.

Charles and Camilla also watched a rehearsal for a Shakespeare play and a basketball practice. Charles attempted two shots. He missed the first but made the second, drawing applause.

“My son was up all night waiting for this,” said Arona Pratt, the mother of one of the players.
