People: Rosie’s ring set to trip Trump
Watch out, Donald Trump, Rosie’s ring is rounding up.
In their public feud, the New York developer and talk-show co-host Rosie O’Donnell, have attracted headlines. Now O’Donnell is attracting friends.
“People are giving Rosie a hard time,” said Madonna, who starred with O’Donnell in 1992’s “A League of Their Own.” Speaking Thursday on NBC’s “Today” show, the 48-year-old pop singer/celeb said, “I wish they’d stop. I don’t think it’s fair.”
Madonna told “Today” co-host Meredith Vieira that she heard about the flare-up and quickly e-mailed O’Donnell. “I have to hear it from the horse’s mouth,” Madonna said. “Basically, I mean, she’s a stand-up comic. I think all stand-up comics talk about provocative things in their monologues, and I think that’s a commonplace thing.”
The feud began last month after Trump announced that Miss USA Tara Conner would keep her title, which had been in jeopardy because of underage drinking. He owns the pageant.
O’Donnell, of ABC’s “The View,” hit a nerve when she said the twice-divorced real-estate mogul had no right to be “the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America.” Trump fired back, calling her a “loser” and a “fat pig” in various media interviews.

While showing friends a copy of the 1932 Picasso that he owns, a painting he’d paid $48.4 million for in 1997, Casino mogul Steve Wynn punched a thumb-size hole in it with his elbow. “The blood drained out of their faces,” Wynn said. “I just turned around and said, ‘Oh, my God. How could I have done this?’ “
That’s must be what Lloyd’s of London asked. Wynn has sued the insurance company, claiming that it failed to act properly. The lawsuit wants Lloyd’s to expedite Wynn’s claims for reimbursement and restoration costs. Wynn’s representatives told Lloyd’s in November that the painting was worth $139 million the day before Wynn damaged it, no more than $85 million afterward.

Entertainer and activist Harry Belafonte implored college students to help shape the future during a two-hour talk that also included stories about the people who have influenced him. “You are responsible for this generation the way we were responsible for the last one,” Belafonte, 79, said Wednesday at Wright State University. “So if you see things that are unacceptable, you have a responsibility to change them. Make a difference. If you don’t, you have no one to blame but yourself.”
