NHL : Selanne gets 19th hat trick in rout of Stars

Teemu Selanne scored three goals and Andy McDonald added four assists to help the Anaheim Ducks beat the Dallas Stars 5-1 on Thursday night at Dallas.

Selanne registered his 19th career hat trick – his first since March 29, 2001. That one came against the Ducks when he played for the San Jose Sharks.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 17 shots for the Ducks, who had one victory in their previous six games (1-4-1) after getting off to a franchise-best 28-5-6 start.

Niklas Hagman scored for the injury-depleted Stars, 1-4-1 in their last six games.

Hurricanes 6, Panthers 4: At Raleigh, N.C., Cory Stillman scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, and Carolina rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat Florida.

Maple Leafs 4, Sabres 2: At Buffalo, N.Y., Jeff O’Neill scored twice and Mats Sundin added two assists, lifting banged-up Toronto to a win over the Sabres.

Senators 6, Rangers 4: At New York, Daniel Alfredsson gave Ottawa a five-goal lead early in the third period and the Senators then held off New York’s furious rally to beat the Rangers.

Islanders 5, Bruins 4 (SO): At Boston, Jason Blake and Miroslav Satan each scored goals in the shootout to lift New York to a victory over Boston.

Canadiens 4, Flyers 2: At Philadelphia, Chris Higgins scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and added an assist to help Montreal beat Philadelphia, handing the Flyers their fifth straight loss.

Lightning 5, Capitals 4: At Tampa, Fla., Vincent Lecavalier had two goals and an assist, giving the Lightning a victory over Washington.

Flames 7, Avalanche 3: At Denver, Daymond Langkow had two goals and two assists as Calgary had a season-high offensive output in a win over Colorado.

Red Wings 5, Coyotes 1: At Glendale, Ariz., Tomas Holmstrom scored three goals and had an assist to help Detroit beat Phoenix.

Wild 5, Canucks 2: At Vancouver, British Columbia, Marian Gaborik scored twice to help Minnesota snap an 11-game winless streak on the road with a win over the Canucks.

Sharks 5, Kings 2: At Los Angeles, Patrick Marleau set a franchise record for career goals, Mark Bell and Milan Michalek scored the tying and go-ahead goals 4 1/2 minutes apart in the second period, and San Jose beat the Kings.
