Council will hear from neighborhoods

The Spokane City Council will hold its annual town-hall style meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. for neighborhood groups in the downtown and southwest areas of the city.

It is one of four town-hall meetings held by the council each year. Tuesday’s meeting will be in Council Chambers on the lower level of City Hall.

The other town-hall meetings are held at the city’s three larger community centers.

On Tuesday, representatives of neighborhood councils, COPS substations and a community center are expected to give reports of about 10 to 15 minutes each.

The groups are the Grandview/Thorpe, West Hills, Cliff/Cannon, Riverside, Browne’s Addition and Peaceful Valley neighborhood councils; COPS Downtown and COPS Southwest; and the Peaceful Valley Community Center.

Other meetings dealing with neighborhood issues include the following:

“The Latah Valley/Hangman Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Trading Co., at Highway 195 and Cheney-Spokane Road.

■The Peaceful Valley Neighborhood Council will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Peaceful Valley Community Center, 214 N. Cedar St.

“The East Central Neighborhood Council will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the East Central Community Center, Fifth Avenue and Stone Street.

“The Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the South Hill Senior Activity Center, 3151 E. 27th Ave. Topics will include the Pittsburg Street and 29th Avenue barrier, and bicycle lanes.

“The Grandview-Thorpe Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Canyon Bluff Community Center, at Highway 195 and the Thorpe exit.

“The Rockwood Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. next Thursday at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral, 127 E. 12th Ave.
