Win leaves Favre choked up

After shredding the Chicago Bears’ first-team defense in an otherwise meaningless 26-7 victory for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, Brett Favre certainly sounded like a man who was ready to leave the game.

Standing on the 20-yard line with a group of teammates, Favre got choked up during a TV interview, saying he would decide “soon” whether he would return next season.

“It’s tough. It’s tough,” Favre said. “I’m going to miss these guys and miss the game.”

Still, Favre stopped short of saying he would retire.

Seahawks banged up some more

Well, two out of three … in this case, it’s bad. Real bad.

The Hawks wanted to leave Tampa Bay with a win (check), momentum (check) and no injuries (checkmate).

Seattle, which was already playing without cornerback Marcus Trufant, lost starting corner Kelly Herndon to a broken ankle and backup Jimmy Williams to a knee injury. And now Dallas is coming to town next Saturday for a first-round playoff game. At least the Cowboys’ passing attack revolves around two overrated players, Tony Romo and Terrell Owens.

So what do you think the Hawks’ chances are next Saturday? How much will the injuries to the corners hurt? What would you do if you were in charge of the defense?
