Area residents graduate from basic

Four local residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air National Guard Airman Mitchell Anderson is the son of Cathy Anderson of Davenport, Wash., and graduated from Davenport High School in 2007.

Air Force Airman Kaila Bonin graduated from Cheney High School in 2006 and is the daughter of Edward Bonin of Cheney and Leigh Lubbers of Airway Heights.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Brittany Armstrong is the daughter of Tammy Frost of Spokane Valley and is a 2007 graduate of East Valley High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Catherine Chambers is the daughter of Michael Chambers of Rich Square, N.C., and Elizabeth Chambers of Nine Mile Falls, and graduated in 2007 from Northampton County High-East, Conway, N.C.

“ Ensign Brian Allen graduated from Navy Officer’s Candidate School in Newport, R.I. He is the son of Robert Allen of Deer Park and Nancy Allen of Denver.

“ Six residents graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Army Pvt. Rachel Cuffe is the daughter of Holly Cuffe of Spokane and a 2007 graduate of Rogers High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Jayme Butcher is the daughter of Dan Butcher of Millwood and Janet Clark of Medical Lake.

Army Reserve Pvt. Erika Pena is the niece of Artemio Montemayor of Warden, Wash.

Army Reserve Pvt. Jeanie Littlejohn is the daughter of Terri Carter of Spokane.

Army Pfc. Ben Burk is the son of Tim Burk of Medical Lake, and Kristen Sabkowiak of Spokane and is a 2007 graduate of Medical Lake High School. Burk earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Army Pvt. Amanda Acevedo is the daughter of Denise Burns of Spokane.

“ Two local residents recently completed a U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps field training encampment at Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, S.D.

Derek J. Van De Wege is a 2005 graduate of Federal Way High School, Wash., and is the son of Len and Arlene Van De Wege of Liberty Lake.

Lucas Just graduated from Cheney High School in 2005 and is the son of Wayne and Tracy Just of Cheney.

“ Army Pvt. Daniel Michalski graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of John Michalski of Spokane Valley and graduated from East Valley High School in 2007. Michalski earned distinction as an honor graduate.

“ Army Pvt. Derek Kassman has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He graduated from Kennewick High School in 2007 and is the son of Deanna Martinez of Kennewick.

“ Nicole Scheer of Pullman was recognized as a University Scholar at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. She is the daughter of Gary and Karen Scheer and graduated from Pullman High School in 2004.
