Time to bury the BCS
After watching the BCS mess materialize, I feel it is imperative to give some serious thought to changing Division I postseason college football to a playoff-type format.
The current system creates more problems than it solves. How can programs like Missouri, Tennessee and Arizona State (among others) be exempt from participating in the BCS this year?
All other NCAA divisions have playoffs. All other major team sports at the collegiate level have playoffs. What’s so special and so sacred about Division I men’s football?
Let’s put this outdated, arcane and controversial postseason format to rest and replace it with the only truly sensible solution – playoffs.
