Pilot unhurt in crash landing
A pilot was uninjured after crash-landing his single-engine Cessna airplane in a field near the Spokane Police Academy on Saturday.
The unidentified pilot of the plane, which is based at Felts Field, noticed engine problems immediately after taking off from the airfield at 10:45 a.m., according to a spokesman. The pilot turned around but was forced to land short of the runway and into a chain-link fence.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident, which caused no operational problems at Felts Field, the spokesman said.
