Pair complete basic training
Two area residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Air Force Airman Matthew Knapp is the son of Jolene Kaufmann of Mead and is a 2006 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School.
Air National Guard Airman First Class Luke Campbell-Rodenbough graduated from Davenport High School in 2006 and is the son of Ed and Char Livell of Davenport, Wash.
•Glen Dow Academy of Hair Design students and staff recently competed in the annual Inland Empire Cosmetology Association’s spring event. In the professional division, Debi Norman, Glen Dow instructor, won first place in men’s haircutting and third place in women’s haircutting. Kristine Shimmin won fourth place in evening combout. Below are other awards Glen Dow students received in the annual student competition.

•Farmers and Merchants Bank and the Spokane Indians awarded $2,500 to area students. Each student was awarded $500 to go toward college tuition. The recipients are:

•Interface Computer School recently announced recipients of $1,000 Careers That Work scholarships for 2007:
Kris Bush graduated from Central Valley High School, and is the son of Mike and Debbie Klinger.
Brianne Didier graduated from Northwest Christian School, and is the daughter of Paul and Karla Didier.
•Washington State University announced area scholarship winners for the 2007-08 academic year.
Tracey King was awarded a $1,500 Elizabeth R. Hall Endowment Scholarship. She is a 2004 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and the daughter of Joyce Nelson and Jim and Darlene King, all of Spokane.
Ryan Reisert was awarded a $1,000 William and Mary Lynn Graber Mathematics Development Scholarship. He graduated in 2004 from Rogers High School and is the son of Sandee and Rick DeLigt of Spokane.
