Vandals buck Broncos in five
Idaho outlasted Boise State 28-30, 37-35, 21-30, 30-19, 15-8 to win its Western Athletic Conference volleyball contest Wednesday night in Boise.
Five Vandals had double-digit kills on the night, led by Haley Larsen’s 21. Teammate Erin Curtis added 18.
Idaho (7-13, 6-2) also had double-digit digs on the night, led by Stacy Sode’s 24.
Saxony Brown followed with 21 and also managed double digits in kills with 12.
The Vandals hit .217 for the game, including .370 in the decisive fifth match, while the Broncos (8-13, 2-7) were held to .194.
Men’s soccer
Neil Bachman scored at the 3-minute mark to give Community Colleges of Spokane an early lead in a 2-0 win over Columbia Basin College (8-7-3, 7-6-3) at Pasco in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges play.
Ryan Matern scored on a penalty kick for the Sasquatch (15-4-0, 12-3-0).
Women’s soccer
Lauren Nay scored in the first minute and CC Spokane never looked back in a 4-0 win over host Columbia Basin College (7-7-2, 7-7-2) at Pasco.
Natalie Abersfeller, Ashley Imes and Lindsay Hood also scored for the Sasquatch (13-2-2, 13-1-1 NWAACC).
