Churches provide Halloween fun

At Halloween, many parents are looking for alternatives to trick-or-treating. If you and your children are trying to avoid long walks in the dark and cold, or you are just looking for a safe environment for the children to visit, several churches are providing fun activities.

Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 1111 S. Thor St., is hosting a “Trunk or Treat” party in the upper parking lot of the church Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature candy, games and fun.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7307 N. Nevada St., is presenting a Fall Festival Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Children ages 3 and older are invited to enjoy a maze, snacks, candy, door prizes, games and a hayride.

“ The Spokane Faith Center, 3330 W. Central Ave., is presenting its annual Harvest Party on Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Children are invited to come and play carnival-style games to win prizes and candy. There will also be a concession stand selling treats.

Reformation services

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., is celebrating the Reformation on Sunday with a service at 10:30 a.m.

The service will be followed with a potluck, and Sunday school and adult Bible classes will be held at 9 a.m.

The church is also gathering with other Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod area churches for a joint-reformation service at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The service features performances from the church choirs and a Mass choir.

Bazaar

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road, is holding its Fall Festival Bazaar on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Items for sale include lefse, other baked goods, crafts, plants and gently used goods.

The Bloodmobile will be available for anyone wishing to donate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bingo!

Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., is holding its fall bingo night Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Along with the games, there will be banana splits for sale for $1.26 in celebration of the church’s 126 years of worship.

Players should bring a white elephant gift wrapped in newspaper for prizes.

The church is also adding a midweek worship service Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
