Web sites as art

The Spokesman-Review

Laura DL Bracken, founder and co-owner of Design Spike Inc., a Spokane-area Web design company. On the Web at www.designspike.com.

“I’m a Web head. There’s just no denying it. As a Web designer/developer, I’m on the Web about 60 hours a week, so when I surf, I search for cool or unusual sites.

However, I’m most interested in what my international counterparts are up to (even though in many cases I can’t read a word on their sites). And, since art and graphics are ever-changing, this week’s picks are not necessarily next week’s picks.

So, for today, here’s some cool sites to check out:”

Taxi www.designtaxi.com

An industry resource for creative professionals. Out of Singapore.

Australian INfront Australianinfront.com.au/start.aspx

A portal for Australian designers.

Illustrators Ireland Illustratorsireland.com

Essentially portfolios Irish artists.

Lava www.lava.nl.

Don’t plan on reading this site. It’s in Dutch. It’s basically just eye candy for designers.

Media Monks Mediamonks.com.

Coming out of the Netherlands, this is an excellent display of pixel art. That’s not to say that it’s the pinnacle of pixel art, just nicely done.

This is artist/illustrator Nobumasa Takahashi’s personal Web site. Contemporary art from Japan.

Art Info — From Russia with Art Artinfo.ru
