Ballots begin arriving today; deadline Nov. 7

Ballots for the Nov. 7 general election will begin arriving in mailboxes across Eastern Washington today, and some will be marked and mailed back shortly after they arrive.

But voters who are still studying candidates or issues have until Election Day to return their ballot as long as it is postmarked by Nov. 7. Counties will also have places to drop off ballots on that day.

Washington residents who aren’t yet registered to vote have until Monday, but state law requires that they go to the county elections office to file a registration form rather than filling it out online or mailing it in.

Those interested in finding out more about the candidates can attend, watch or listen to the following events:

Today

11:30 a.m. Supporters of Initiative 933 hold a rally, sponsored by the Washington Farm Bureau. Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana.

6 p.m. Forum for sheriff, house and county commissioner candidates, sponsored by the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce. Valley Community Center and Food Bank, 10814 E. Broadway.

7 p.m. Republican incumbent Cathy McMorris and Democratic challenger Peter Goldmark in a televised congressional debate, on KSPS-TV, Channel 7.

7 p.m. Forum on I-933, sponsored by EWU and UW. Room 20, Spokane Academic Center, 600 N. Riverpoint Blvd.

7 p.m. Workshop on the “faith perspective” on state initiatives, sponsored by the Interfaith Council and Catholic Charities. Spokane Friends Church, 1612 W. Dalke.

Friday

7 p.m. Televised forum for judicial candidates, on KSPS-TV. Channel 7.

9 p.m. Televised forum for Spokane County District Court candidates, sponsored by the Spokane League of Women Voters. Cable Channel 5.
