Elections officials to start mailing ballots today

The Spokesman-Review

Elections officials around Washington will begin mailing out ballots today for the state’s Nov. 7 general election.

In Spokane County, that means more than 235,000 ballots will be put in the mail between today and Friday, and should be arriving in home mailboxes by the weekend. Because all of Spokane and most other Eastern Washington counties vote by mail, that means anyone who hasn’t received a ballot by the end of next week should contact their county elections office for a replacement.

Ballots can be marked and mailed back any time between now and Election Day, but must be postmarked no later than Nov. 7 to be counted.

Washington residents who have not yet registered can sign up through Oct. 23, but must go to the county elections office to do so.

In Spokane, that office is at 1033 W. Gardner, north of the County Courthouse and public safety complex.

Starting today, The Spokesman-Review will offer a daily list of places where voters can see or hear candidates on the day of publication and the next day.
