TREASURE HUNT

Cheryl-anne Millsap The Spokesman-Review

The big bazaar

This Saturday Everybody’s Bazaar will fill the Spokane Fair and Expo Center with bargains of all kinds. More than 250 vendors, including local businesses, have reserved space to sell clothing, toys and household items as well as antiques and collectibles.

The bazaar, which is produced by The Spokesman-Review, has proven to be a popular event and is always a great source for bargains.

Ro Lisk is one of the people who will be there. Lisk and her husband John are downsizing, moving from a large home into a compact downtown loft. The bazaar is an easy way for the couple to sell items that won’t make the move.

“Who needs three sets of dishes, 36 matching wine glasses, dozens of serving pieces, and 16 dinning chairs?” Lisk asked via e-mail.

I’ll bet she finds buyers for all that and everything else she puts in her space.

A friend and I went to last spring’s bazaar. I was looking for vintage treasures and she was shopping for her toddler. We both came away happy. I found a Fiestaware bowl – in my favorite green color – and she scored a brand new Fisher Price airport for her son. See what I mean? Something for everyone.

Antiques Quest on KSPS

The second act of the recent Antiques Quest event at Northern Quest Casino is coming up. The roadshow-style antiques appraisal event, a fundraiser for KSPS the region’s public television station, was held in mid-September. The public was invited to bring their treasures for verbal appraisals by professionals. Collectibles expert, Harry Rinker, was on hand to meet the public. Rinker is best known as HGTV’s The Collector Inspector.

The event was recorded and will air on KSPS next Monday. Check local listings for times.
