The Socratic Club of Gonzaga University, 502 E. Boone Ave., is presenting the Rev. Ron Tacelli from Boston College Friday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the school’s Administration Building.

Tacelli will speak on, “Why Does God Hide? Pascallian Reflections by a Jesuit.”

Blaise Pascal was a 17th-century philosopher, theologian and Roman Catholic.

“Westminster Congregational Church, 411 S. Washington St., is presenting “Soul Feast,” a weekend of workshops that will focus on spiritual growth and church leadership Oct. 20 and 21.

The event will begin Oct. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a panel of pastors discussing, “Whoever you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”

On Oct. 21, there will be nine different workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Padma Ling Buddhist Center, 1014 W. Seventh Ave., is presenting Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche, who will discuss “Seven-point Mind Training by Atisha.”

Rinpoche, a Buddhist scholar will speak Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m.

“The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting “Broadway on Bernard, a One-Night Broadway Review” Saturday.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with wine and hors d’oeuvres, and the show begin at 7.

The performers at this event come from the Spokane Civic Theatre and Interplayers Theatre.

Workshops

“Ancient Traditions Community Church, 1928 E. Rich Ave., is offering “Finding Your Own Voice,” a singing workshop Oct. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The workshop will discuss simple exercises that will help overcome fear, embarrassment and more for those with stage fright.

“Catholic Charities and the Interfaith Council are presenting a series of workshops that will discuss initiatives on the Washington state voter’s ballot from a faith perspective.

All workshops will be held from 7 to 8 p.m.

Festivals and sales

“Green Bluff Community United Methodist Church, 9908 E. Green Bluff Road, is presenting its annual Apple Festival Craft and Bake Sale Saturday, Sunday and Oct. 21 and 22.

The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Items for sale include crafts, apple pie and dumplings and there will also be entertainment.

The cost before Saturday is $9 for anyone 12 years and older, $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 11. Children younger than 5 get in free. At the door, the cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children.
