Man gets life in prison for sex with girl
A man convicted of having sex with a 12-year-old Bonner County girl has been sentenced to life in prison.
James Henry Crumble, 46, of Newport, will become eligible for parole after serving 20 years.
District Judge Steve Verby issued the punishment Friday after Crumble pleaded guilty to lewd conduct and burglary charges last month.
Crumble was also given a concurrent five- to 10-year sentence on the unrelated burglary charge.
“You’ve had difficulty the majority of your adult life complying with the requirements of the law. This is a fact you’re well aware of,” Verby told Crumble.
Crumble was originally charged with statutory rape for having sex with the 12-year-old during a five-month period in 2005.
He was also charged with robbing a homeowner’s garage in Laclede that year.
Court documents showed that Crumble fondled an underage child in Houston in the 1980s. He has a lengthy criminal record and a long history of drug abuse.

University to offer health care MBA
Northwest Nazarene University will offer a new master of business administration degree, specifically designed for the health care industry.
The small Christian university’s School of Business announced that the first classes in the new degree program will be offered in January.
The master of health care business administration will include topics and courses common to a regular MBA course of study, but the curriculum will be tailored to focus on the health care industry.
“We recognize a great need for advanced business education centered in the health care sector,” MBA program director Bill Russell said. “The program will serve members of the health care sector who wish to advance their careers by providing health care specific business skills and knowledge education within the framework of a first-class master of business administration program.”
Enrollment in the new program will be limited to 24 students. Students will take roughly 16 months to earn the degree.
Northwest Nazarene may unveil new master’s programs in banking, insurance, pharmaceutical sales and construction in the future, Russell said.

Man released after killing attacker
In what appeared to be a case of justifiable homicide, a man was shot and fatally wounded on a crowded sidewalk outside of Westlake Center over the weekend, Seattle police said.
Witnesses told police a man in a yellow shirt was acting erratically, insulting and threatening passing pedestrians near the Washington State Convention and Trade Center on Saturday morning. About 30 minutes later, a man matching the same description was reported near Westlake Center.
When another man walked through the nearby plaza after finishing his lunch, the man in the yellow shirt apparently focused on him, saying he was going to kill him, and then began to punch and kick him until the injured man fell to the sidewalk.
Police said the assault victim had a concealed-weapons permit and was carrying a handgun. He pulled out the gun and fired once, hitting his attacker in the abdomen.
The man in the yellow shirt died after being taken to Harborview Medical Center. The King County Medical Examiner was working to determine his identity. The dead man carried no identification.
The shooter, whose name was not released, was arrested, but detectives determined they did not have probable cause to book him into the King County Jail and released him.
