Monday

Farecast.com, a Web site that tells travelers the best times to book tickets to various locations, has added Spokane to the list of cities covered by its computer predictions.

Tuesday

The Washington Attorney General’s office has accused Rick Pedersen, the owner of Old European breakfast houses, of being a tax cheat who uses bankruptcy law to avoid paying his fair share. An Old European waffle house recently filed for bankruptcy protection for the fifth time in 13 years.

Wednesday

Eastern Washington University unveiled a new Web site that contains 150 “community indicators” that show how the region stacks up in eight areas, including arts and leisure, civic engagement, the environment and economic vitality. The Web site is located at www.community indicators.ewu.edu.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time high, seven years after its last record-setting session. The Dow closed at 11,727.34, buoyed by falling oil prices.

Thursday

Centennial Properties Inc. agreed to pay $2.05 million for the headquarters of the Catholic Diocese of Spokane. Centennial is a unit of Cowles Co., which also owns The Spokesman-Review. The diocese is selling properties as part of its bankruptcy; proceeds will go to pay claims by people who were sexually abused by priests.

“Washington State University’s Applied Sciences Laboratory is adding two more scientists and will ask the Legislature for more funding for the lab in the next session. In addition, Avista Corp. recently loaned an executive to the lab to serve as its first director of business development and operations.

Friday

Ousted Hewlett-Packard Co. Chairwoman Patricia Dunn agreed to surrender to authorities a day after she and four others were charged in HP’s ill-fated investigation to ferret out the source of boardroom leaks. The former HP executives face four felony counts, with each charge carrying a fine of up to $10,000 and three years in prison.
