The Spokane Association of REALTORS® Food Drive for the Second Harvest Inland Northwest has some outstanding numbers for the event.

To date, the Food Drive has brought in just over 53,855 pounds of food, down slightly from last year’s 58,000 pounds, but still an increase from the two years before.

Albertson’s stores donated $5,000 by giving an oversized check in addition to a large semitruck full of food stuffs weighing in with 36,982 pounds of food.

In addition, the Food Drive raised just under $18,000, up from $11,000 last year. Cash donations for the REALTORS® drive make a big difference. They count up fast as the operation gets $10 worth of food for every $1 that is donated.

The food industry donates more than 70 percent of Second Harvest’s inventory. Community contributions pay for transporting, warehousing and distributing this food to agency partners.
