Valley Fire – The department’s paramedics staffing the Spokane County Fair responded to 15 emergency calls, which includes falls from horses, bee strings and one heart attack. Commissioners discussed the increasing fees they pay every time the department is paged for a call. Fairfield City Council – Gail Mackie, executive director of SpokAnimal, came to the meeting to discuss issues the town has with dogs. The council gave approval for a youth program to have a dance in the community center once a month beginning in November. They also discussed what grants to apply for. Rockford City Council – The town’s new planning commission committee is up and running. A property in town is being considered for a preservation grant. General Fire has made a request to take the town’s new fire engine to a convention next year to display it. (Source: Town clerk)

Liberty Lake SCOPE – Volunteers discussed their presence at this weekend’s Applefest at Liberty Lake Elementary. They are also preparing for selling tickets for an upcoming fundraiser that will allow ticket holders to shop at the Valley Mall with a special discount.
